Cyclopropane is unusual. Three carbon atoms are forced into a tiny ring with angles of about 60 degrees, far from the geometry carbon normally prefers. That creates ring strain and unusual bonding. But the ring is still stable enough for chemists to carry it through a long sequence of reactions.
And in this case, that's exactly what happens. 1-Cyclopropylnaphthalene is an intermediate in the synthesis of lesinurad, a drug developed to increase uric acid excretion by targeting urate transport.
