Triazine B
Triazine B offers a useful imaging lesson: adding a reactive ingredient can make the complete formulation perform worse.
More light-sensitive chemistry does not always make a better imaging material. Triazine B, CAS 69432-40-2, appears in patents as an acid-generating candidate for responsive formulations. Yet one printing-plate study found that adding it to a particular resin, infrared-dye and ketal system slightly reduced photospeed and increased unwanted white-light sensitivity. The coatings required protected handling before imaging. This does not show that the compound is universally ineffective; it shows that the complete formulation matters. A useful layer must survive storage, respond to the intended exposure and preserve contrast between regions. Triazine B's story connects molecular reactivity with process design: an ingredient can be chemically active without improving the particular performance measure that the researchers want to optimize in a finished recording material.
