Polyglyceryl-10 oleate is a molecular mediator between oil and water. Its oleate chain prefers the oil phase, while a highly hydrated polyglycerol head interacts with water. That amphiphilic balance lets it lower interfacial tension, stabilize emulsions, and help oily materials rinse away. The name describes an average oligomeric family rather than one perfectly uniform molecule - an important feature of many formulation ingredients.
